Mr. Thomas' remarks on Obama only proves that, just as in all races and ethnic groups, intelligence runs the gamut from very bright to not so bright.
Obviously, Mr. Obama is very bright!

I wish I could speak well of Clarence Thomas, but unfortunately his mind is lodged in a dark place where little light seems to shine. How a twenty-first century African American can adhere to the Republican Party and its inhumane values entirely eludes comprehension.
I discovered that, according to his family's oral tradition, the "oldest known lineal ancestor of Clarence Thomas was a slave belonging to Roswell King." The author of Thomas's biography who made this statement doesn't specify Roswell King, Sr. or Roswell King, Jr., the former my fourth great grandfather, the latter my third great grandfather.
This biographical account of Clarence Thomas is biased: almost all scholarly research influenced by Fanny Kemble and her *Journal* (referenced in the link below) uncritically accepts her at her word without acknowledging her own racism and uncritical reliance on hearsay and gossip, but you can read the above quote in context here:

If my ancestors did own Clarence Thomas's ancestors, for that I'm deeply sorry. But I'm also sorry for the many who have suffered unjustly as a consequence of his bad decisions.
