Ron Howard Attacked By William Donohue
I read the book of the "Da Vinci Code" with much effort. I found it to be a moderately clumsy cliffhanger with the mechanical device of peril at the end of each chapter and a partial solution at the beginning of the next. I didn't see the film but we had an earlier thread on IMDb where we "cast the parts" and I discovered that the casting director had apparently followed our recommendations pretty closely except in the case of the star who "came with the package". (The thread was quickly "disappeared".)
Even as fiction partly based on fact, I found the whole thing to be a stretch especially with the idea that Leonardo would have had the slightest interest in painting Mary Magdalene instead of John the Apostle!
But even more, I find it hard to believe that Mr. Donahue, as the self-appointed representative of an even more far-fetched and fictional religion, would get himself so exercised over another work of fiction. I've always thought that if he wanted me not to see a film, I ouight to see it as a matter of course and vice versa. But, in this case, I will make an exception! I haven't read the book of "Angels and Demons" and I won't see the film.
All the same, best of luck to Mr. Howard and Mr. Hanks etc.
